We Are Open – Safety is Our Top Priority!
We’ve reopened in accordance with CDC, O.S.H.A., and State Dental Board guidelines to responsibly resume seeing our patients for regular dental appointments and treatment. We want to assure you of the measures we take to maintain a clean and safe environment so you can continue to receive needed dental care without fear or concern.
When your dentures slip or fall out during a social event, it can be very frustrating not to mention very embarrassing. There is, however, a solution to this problem. All-on-4 dentures have revolutionized the denture industry and they may be the solution for you. All-on-4 dentures are secured in four places in your jaw — two in the front and two in the back — so you never have to worry about your dentures embarrassing you again. If you’re interested in the All-on-4 treatment, then call our Fairfax office for more information.
What’s Meant by All-on-4 Dental Implants?
All-on-4 dentures refer to a set of custom dentures that are anchored into the jaw by two titanium implants in the front of your jaw and two in the back. The back implants are placed at a 45-degree angle, which provides more stability for the post and reduces or eliminates the need for a bone graft. Typically, the process takes two or three office visits, but sometimes, we can complete this procedure in one visit. If you want more information about our teeth-in-a-day service, call our Fairfax office and we’ll be happy to answer your questions and schedule an appointment.
What’s the Installation Procedure for All-on-4 Implants?
During your first appointment, your dentist will examine your mouth, teeth, and gums and decide the best course of treatment for your particular situation. If you need work other than the implant dentures, then that will be completed first. For the implant procedure, you’ll be given a mild sedative, and your dentist will install two small titanium posts in the back of your jaw and two in the front. Since the rear posts are installed at a 45-degree angle, bone grafts aren’t usually necessary.
The posts we use are made of titanium, which is biocompatible, so you won’t have to worry about a reaction to the post, and a biocompatible metal will encourage more rapid healing. During the healing process, we’ll supply you with a temporary denture that we have customized for you. After the incision sites have healed, you’ll return to our office and we’ll permanently place your customized, permanent, All-on-4 denture. Since your permanent denture is fabricated at a lab, it will match the shape and color of your other teeth. You’ll need to maintain a good oral hygiene program with your All-on-4 denture the same as you do with your natural teeth.
Are There All-on-4 Before and After Procedure Instructions?
Your dentist will outline your before-the-procedure steps and they’ll be determined by the condition of your teeth and gums. Then, we’ll prep the sites and install the titanium posts. You’ll be provided with aftercare instructions, and it’s vital that you follow them. If an infection sets in, your procedure will be delayed, and it could be completely compromised. You’ll also be given pointers on aftercare procedures that will protect your new dentures and your existing teeth. If you have any questions, call our Fairfax office and we’ll gladly answer them.
Is the All-on-4 Procedure Expensive?
Your All-on-4 dental implants cost will be unique to you because the condition of your teeth and gums is unique to you. During your initial consultation, we’ll provide you with an estimate of your cost and the procedures involved. All-on-4 dentures are often more cost effective than traditional dentures because fewer implants are required and it’s considerably less invasive.
Are All-on-4 Dentures Better Than Traditional Implants?
All-on-4 dentures are permanently affixed to your jaw, whereas traditional dentures rest on your gums, which means the dentures can slide around or fall out. Sometimes, bone grafts are necessary in order to make the jawbone stable enough to support implants a traditional dentures procedure. The All-on-4 procedure eliminates the need for that very invasive surgery in most cases.
Are All-on-4 Dentures Considered to Be More Stable Than Traditional Dentures?
All-on-4 dentures are considerably more stable than traditional dentures because they’re permanently installed into the jaw. They also help maintain the structural integrity of the jawbone, which traditional dentures don’t. Call us for more clarification or if you want to schedule an appointment.
